Early Outreach

The description that the website gives, best describes the duties:

  • “Early Outreach provides proactive, individualized support to students to help you succeed. Our staff who are trained as resource specialists and content specialists who can tutor in specific subjects–plus connect you with campus and community support. We stay with you throughout your Lane experience to help you navigate whatever comes up.”

Instructors, peers and even the student can reach out for assistance via the referral form.

The current CIT Early Outreach Specialist is Greg Swaim.

Background information for Greg Swaim

I completed my LCC Computer Network Operations Degree in the Summer of 2019 with three pathways (Database Specialist, Computer Network Security and Computer Network Monitoring and Management). While doing my degree I tutored in the CIT Lab answering questions on Networking, Operating Systems and Python.

I have accepted this position because I want to use my experience of getting my degree to assist future students that need additional support.

My schedule at this time

Summer 2021

Students can sign up for a 30-minute session by going to https://lanecc.mywconline.com. After logging in, select “Look for…” and the course that you need assistance in.

I am providing tutoring support in these subjects:

  • CIS 101 Computer Fundamentals
  • CS 120 Concepts of Computing
  • Linux (CIS140u, CIS240u)
  • Windows (CIS140w, CIS240w)
  • Networking (CS179, CS188, CS189, CS279, CS288, CS289)
  • Firewall and Security (CS284, CS285, CS286)

My current schedule is:

  • https://lanecc.zoom.us/j/98549544816 (Zoom Meeting for drop in or using wconline)
  • Monday: 12:30pm-1:45pm
  • Tuesday: 12:00pm-1:15pm
  • Wednesday: 3:30pm-4:45pm
  • Thursday: 12:30pm-1:45pm

I am doing the Virtual Front Desk in the Lane Support Hub (so no tutoring):

  • Monday 2:00-5:00pm
  • Tuesday 1:30-4:30pm
  • Wednesday 5:00-8:00pm
  • Thursday 2:00-5:00pm
